Curious to find out which gemstones will flatter you the most? Well, you’ve got to first figure out your skin tone! 

Our skin tones generally fall into one of three categories: cool, warm and neutral. The most straightforward test to find out what is your skin tone is to look at the colour of the veins that are on the inside of your wrists.

While this test is the easiest to perform, the result may not be obvious enough due to darker skin or lack of natural light. So you may need a few more tests. Fret not! Check out my 4 easy tests to determine your skin tone here.

Cool Skin People

Most people have cool skin, including those with darker skin or tanned skin. Cool skin people will notice that they have bluish-coloured or purple veins. Here’s an example of mine which I took under natural light. You’ll be able to see very clearly that the veins are blue. (which means I’m cool! =)

Jewellery For Cool Skin Tones

If you have a cool skin tone, then you will lean towards silver, platinum, white gold and rose gold jewellery. When it comes to gemstones, go for these gems that will bring out the cool tones and accentuate your natural skin colour: Aquamarine, Amethyst, Ruby, Blue Topaz, Blue Sapphire, Emerald, Jade, Tanzanite and most definitely pearls!

Warm Skin People

Warm skin toned people will see green or olive-coloured veins on the inside of their wrists. If you have a warm skin tone, you might find that yellow, gold and peachy hues brighten up against your skin. 

Jewellery For Warm Skin Tones

Warm skin tones will look great in traditional yellow gold. If you are warm toned and are looking for gemstones to bring some glow to your skin, try on Citrine, Morganite, Orange Sapphire, Turquoise, Peridot, and gold pearls to help you shine even more. 

Neutral Skin People

Neutral skin-toned people will notice that their veins on the insides of their wrists tend to be blue-green in colour. When you feel and look great in either gold or silver, white or rose gold or platinum, you’re very likely a neutral skin toned person. Or perhaps you just love jewellery in all forms and gemstones in all colours!
