Jewellery Trends 2022: Pearls For Pearl-fectionists
These shiny iridescent spheres are en vogue right now. From catwalk to the red carpet, pearls are ditching their dainty, polite demeanor for bolder, edgier, and more modern interpretations. This is the time for pearls to shine again, and if you happen to have a pearl necklace or earrings in your jewellery box, give them a good wipe and pair them with chain links, crystals and gemstones for an updated pearl pride.
- Pearl Accessories
The fashion world is now oozing with pearls. You’ve seen them on hairpins, headbands, sunglasses, handbags, purses, and even shoes. Chanel’s evening bag in white and black is entirely beaded with glass and imitation pearls for a chic-glam, casual look. Check out also their oh-so-cute white and black Mary Janes in calfskin and imitation pearls. Even JLo’s pearl headpiece is making our heads turn in all directions.
And then, there is the trending pearl manicure …
If it’s trending in Korea, then consider it a raging trend here. The Korean hairclip trend is irresistibly chic and put-together without the need to put in much (or any) effort.
2. Pearl Chokers
This is one of my loves. Chokers are back, and better than ever when it’s done in pearl-fect style. Chokers can give the appearance of a longer, sexier neck. And what better way to elongate your neck than with strands and strands of gorgeous pearls. Feel free to fix a brooch or a charm to your pearl choker for added glam. Here’s a look at Lisa and Jennie from BlackPink rocking pearl chokers.
3. Pearls and Birthstones
One can’t deny the affinity associated with our birthstones and combining them with pearls makes quite the statement. Personally, I love pearls with gemstones as the subtle shades of pearls go very well with natural gemstones. Here’s the latest bespoke piece I created for someone who adored green gemstones and wanted something made into an everyday bracelet. Just the addition of a single freshwater pearl made this bracelet uniquely the wearer’s style.
- Baroque Pearls
Baroque pearls are the edgier cousins to the round, symmetrical pearls that we are so accustomed to. These babies can be found in so many colours: white, pink, grey, violet, and black and hold so much character that it’s impossible to resist their bold charms.
If you’re assuming that pearls fall only into the dainty and understated category, I hope some of these trends will have you thinking otherwise!
Get your pearls on. After all, the world is your oyster.
