Meet Peridot

The name Peridot comes from faridat, which is the Arabic word for gem. It has also been called the ‘Evening Emerald’ for its translucent light green colour. From yellow-green to lime-green, Peridot’s colour never fails to mesmerize with its transparent, cool tones. This gem only comes in green shades and hues due to a mineral called Olivine which is present in lava in the Earth’s mantle. Peridot is brought up from the mantle of our Earth to the surface through volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. An even more interesting fact is that some rare Peridot specimens are actually brought to Earth by meteorites!

Known as: The Gem of The Sun

Physical Healing Properties

As Peridot has been associated with lighting up darkness, this stone has been greatly used by ancient healers to aid in sharpening the eyesight. Peridot has also been lauded to help in both upper and lower abdominal recovery. Feeling stress in the chest area or having respiratory issues? Lightly hold the stone to your chest. For women experiencing menstrual discomfort, resting a piece of Peridot on the affected area may help to soothe the pain. Use the stone in the same way to alleviate digestive and stomach issues.

Mind & Spirit Therapeutic Powers

Peridot has the ability to dissolve recurring negative patterns and emotional blockages that deter one from moving forward. It is a remarkable stone for emotional healing by allowing one to let go of resentment, anger, jealousy, guilt, blame and other negative emotions that are counterproductive to one’s personal growth.

Did you know …

For the longest time in history, peridots have been confused with emeralds. The Shrine of the Three Kings at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, which was thought to be decorated with 200 carats of emeralds, was in fact, adorned with peridots.

Great For

Peridot is known for its energy in reducing depression, anxiety and jealousy. Worn close to the heart, a Peridot pendant provides the loving vibrations for the heart to stay open and worthy of receiving love and feeling valued.
